Inspector, SI and ASI posted in Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Central District have been suspended on charges of extortion. District Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Sen issued this order on Friday. In fact, on Wednesday, the Central District Police had arrested three accused while disclosing the gang of vehicle thieves. It was claimed that cars stolen from Delhi-NCR were being sold with the help of influential people in the north-eastern states by changing engine and chassis numbers.

After this the team of central district reached Arunachal Pradesh for the raid. Here the team picked up the close of a big leader. A stolen car was also recovered from the accused. Sources claim that in exchange for releasing him, the team extorted a hefty amount from him at a hotel. The accused was also wanted in MCOCA. As soon as the leader close to the accused came to know about the extortion, he got the DGP to complain to the Delhi Police Commissioner.

A video of the hotel was also sent to the police commissioner as evidence. Taking the matter seriously, Inspector Girish Jain, SI Akhil Chaudhary and ASI Rakesh were immediately suspended. At present, orders have been given to investigate the entire matter. If the allegations are found to be true, strict action is being taken. However, senior police officers are not saying anything officially.

Cars worth 5 crores were recovered

On Wednesday, police raided Meerut-UP, Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh and recovered 15 luxury cars worth five crore and arrested three accused. These included two vehicle thieves and one receiver of stolen vehicles. The gang used to steal cars from states other than Delhi-NCR. Later, the engine and chassis numbers of these vehicles were changed and sold at good prices in the north-eastern states. A similar vehicle was recovered from the wanted accused in MCOCA, who is being asked to leave after taking money.
